You can learn everything there is to know about University Circle at the University Circle Inc website. Suffice to say, briefly, that University Circle is a cultural, medical, educational and religious district just minutes from downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Our spacious (huge) near turn of the century coffee mansion is located smack dab in the middle of it all, walking distance to nearly anything and everything that you might want to see.

If you are a local or touring artist interested in playing the U.C. Arabica, please send an email to music at steve2 dot net and include a link to your Electronic Press Kit which must contain at minimum a couple of pictures, a brief biography, a musical catagorization (how you want us to describe your musical genre) and a couple of songs to listen to.

If you do not have an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) you may send a traditional press kit, via snail mail, to the cafe attention entertainment coordinator. Or, come to an Open Mic Night and play for us live! Open Mic Nights are scheduled monthly, usually at least two a month, however, check this site often (and join the email list) for specific dates, they do change from month to month.

Posted in the right column are small pictures of the cafe for you to get an idea of what our coffee mansion looks like. It's a big old place, about a hundred years old, with nice rich wood work and good food and drinks! Our 'Listening Room' (or music parlor) is on the first floor of the mansion, it's smallish, and 20 people make it a full room! The library and greenhouse are on either side of the listening room, the music from the parlor may be heard just as well from those two rooms. The smoking room is upstairs, the game room is upstairs, bathrooms are on first and second floors. The food and beverage service counter is on the first floor.

U.C. Arabica does NOT provide sound gear to artists! If you are planning to play the U.C. Arabica then please bring what you need to the cafe with you, we do not assist in setting up, tearing down, or running any sound gear at all. Some artists play all acoustic, others cannot do so. If you play an agressive folk style and you are touring and or playing with a couple other musicians (like a banjo player or a mandoulin player) then you can probably count on being able to play all acoustic, unless your gonna pack the place! If you play a gentle acoustic finger style guitar, and your gonna be on the patio, you WILL need amplification. Please plan accordingly!

The U.C. Arabica is primarily interested in hiring folk, blues, blue grass, new age, singer songwriters, classical, jazz -- we do not hire rock bands or heavy metal and we generally do not host any groups larger than a trio.

We share a parking lot with the venerable Barking Spider Tavern, so if you want to drink beer, that's the place to go - plus, they have live music almost every night of the week!
